Topic: Perspective from the regulator: numbers – deterministic and probabilistic.
Joel Robinson will present examples of the use of numbers from UK nuclear safety cases and the accompanying regulatory opinion of these. Various appropriate topics will be discussed where ONR has made judgements of where numbers are used to support safety case arguments.
Examples topics: CCF/common mode failures, frequency cut-offs, the SAP numerical targets, use of reliability parameters in justification of changes to safety cases, use of generic database figures, etc.
Joel Robinson is a PSA Specialist Inspector with ONR. He completed a BSc. (Hons.) in Chemical Physics from the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada.
