Following on from last month’s announcement: “Encouraging the next generation of STEM Professionals”, CRA welcomed our latest work experience student, Ria.
Ria, an A-Level student who is passionate about the new generation of reactors and a tutor of Maths and English, is planning to study Physics at university.
Ria completed two weeks’ work experience with CRA. She reviewed the applications of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning on Risk Applications, one of CRA core business areas. The review comprised talking to CRA consultants, conducting a web research and writing a technical note.
At the end of her placement, Ria delivered a well-structured and persuasive presentation (see photo) discussing: (i) why Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence tools are relevant for Risk Applications, (ii) how are they used nowadays and (iii) what CRA can do to start applying them. This sparked an interesting debate between CRA consultants who discussed their thoughts on the ideas. This work has the potential to form the basis of future projects.
Talking about the work experience Ria said: “The office (people) are super nice, the topic was cool and lead to some cool discussions.”
The team at CRA is pleased to have supported Ria during her work experience and takes pride in inspiring the next generation of STEM professionals.
